Sass Video Frequently Asked Questions
General
Imagine being able to watch your grandfather’s Bar Mitzvah - or your parents’ wedding. Most families say their simcha went by so quickly that they could hardly remember everything that happened. It’s no surprise, then, that one of the biggest regrets families have after their simcha is choosing not to have it professionally filmed.Family simchas - especially in Israel - are filled with once-in-a-lifetime moments that deserve to be preserved and relived for generations to come. Beautiful photographs capture individual moments, but there is no substitute for video: the voices, the laughter, the emotions, and all the little moments that bring the day back to life. These are the memories you’ll want to experience again - and share with future generations.
Unless you’re related to Steven Spielberg, I can’t emphasize enough what a difference there is between home video and a professionally produced video.Your friend or relative may have the best intentions, but it’s unlikely they have the professional equipment - cameras, wireless microphones and editing tools - needed to produce a truly high-quality video. More importantly, they probably don’t have the experience or know-how to capture and edit a video that is more than just watchable. And then there’s the question of stamina and focus. Will they be ready and paying attention when the most important moments happen? Will they know where to be, what to look for, and how to anticipate those moments? And wouldn’t you rather have your friends and family actually participate in and enjoy your simcha?Great event video takes more than simply pointing a camera and pressing record. It requires experience, attention to detail, and a trained eye for finding the right angles and anticipating the moments that matter.Your simcha is simply too important to leave to chance.
High-end videos leave no room for excuses. They capture the essential moments of the day with clear, crisp sound, accurate color, and smooth, professional camerawork. The editing is engaging and well-paced, keeping the video captivating without ever dragging on longer than necessary. Special effects are used thoughtfully and purposefully - driven by the content, not simply because they “look neat.”
I begin by gathering as much information as possible to understand the personalities of the key people involved in your simcha and, most importantly, what matters to you.I go over the details of your simcha with a fine-toothed comb, familiarizing myself with the schedule, the key people, and the moments that matter most. I arrive well in advance to determine the best way to set up my equipment and prepare for the day ahead. My goal is simple: to have a thorough understanding of your simcha from beginning to end, so I’m ready to anticipate the important moments as they happen rather than simply react to them.
Unfortunately, the traditional approach of many videographers and photographers in Israel is to become the center of attention - as if they are somehow one of the more important elements of the simcha.Sass Video Productions takes the opposite approach. A truly skilled videographer with professional equipment shouldn’t need to make his presence felt to capture the perfect shot. There is nothing more frustrating for a guest than missing a wedding ceremony because the videographer or photographer is standing directly in front of the chupah. My approach is intentionally discreet. I use a streamlined setup with no unnecessary cables or overpowering lights. My 4K-HD cameras are designed to capture excellent images even in low-light situations, and I use additional lighting only when absolutely necessary. The goal is simple: to capture your simcha beautifully without ever becoming part of the spectacle.
Not only can you select the music, but I strongly encourage you to do so. Nothing can detract from an otherwise amazing production more than background music that the family doesn’t like.If you need help making your selections, I will of course be happy to recommend music that fits both your taste and the mood of your video.
Upon request, I’d be happy to provide you with a list of photographers I recommend. That said, I work well with all of the local photographers I encounter.Good communication and cooperation between the photographer and videographer make a real difference. When we work well together, it allows both of us to get the shots we need - resulting in better photographs, better video, and a better overall record of your simcha.
Turnaround time depends on the complexity of the production and the time of year. Typically, speech filming can be completed within 1–2 weeks, Kotel Bar/Bat Mitzvahs within 2–3 weeks, and full wedding productions within 4–6 weeks. These time-frames are based on receiving all necessary materials - such as music selections - in a timely manner.
My pricing is based on one primary variable: time. The more footage I have to review, organize, and edit, the more time is required to produce your finished video. All told, I can spend up to 70 hours editing a single production. When you consider that a professional photographer may spend roughly half that amount of time on a single project, it’s easy to understand why high-quality videography should cost at least as much as photography - and often considerably more. The investment reflects the time, experience, and attention to detail that go into creating a finished video you’ll want to watch for years to come.
Once your production is complete, I’ll send you a link to download all of the finished HD video clips. The link will remain active for 60 days and can easily be shared with family and friends. You can download the videos directly to your computer or laptop and keep them for years to come. In addition, Sass Video Productions can make your video available online through a private family simcha webpage, giving you and your loved ones an easy way to watch and share your memories.
